Where a violation has been committed that primarily impacts the performance of an individual rider, such as a HRM violation or isolated incidence of an illegal pedalling technique, the rider in question will be removed from that individual race.

Where a violation primarily impacts the performance of the team as a whole, such as illegal pedalling technique through the entire race that impacts the whole race dynamic, or an ineligible rider being fielded, the whole team will be disqualified.

Penalties will be escalated on a X strikes and you’re out basis. However we do reserve the right to impose a season DQ or lifetime ban immediately for anything race control deem gross misconduct.

Riders will only be re-admitted after a ban if Race Committee is confident the rider has resolved their issues, any repeat in a future season may result in an immediate move to a 90 day or lifetime ban.

Example 1st Violation 2nd Violation 3rd Violation 4th Violation 5th Violation
Minor Infringement HRM, Cadence sensor. Race Penalty Race Penalty 30 day ban Race Penalty 60 day ban (alternating race penalty/ban thereafter)
Major Infringement Sticky watts, unusual technique, private data. Race Penalty 30 day ban 90 day ban Lifetime ban
Gross Misconduct Deliberate manipulation, abusive behaviour. Lifetime Ban
World Class Can race while pending verification for 14 days max. Then suspended until verified.

Note that as an interim measure, any ineligible rider who races in a ladder race will receive a short 10 day suspension, this is to stop the practice of ineligible riders “racing anyway to get a ranking”. In future we expect that ZR will exclude such races from their vELO calculation so “racing to get a rank” won’t work.
