Course choice is made by the challenging team with courses based on the below rough guidance.

• 15-25km in length, with a target race time of approx 30-45 minutes (for the majority of riders in that category).
• Consist of one or multiple laps of a circuit, or a balanced point to point course. This is intended to ensure balanced courses and not ones that are all uphill (or down!), if you have a balanced point to point course in mind you can check with the race committee if it can be used.

These criteria are only a guide, and teams may mutually agree on a course not meeting this criteria, but the team being challenged will always have the power to refuse a course that does not fit the published guidance. Where a custom finish is selected the captain choosing must make the opposition aware it is not a standard finish

As noted above, during mandatory periods Route Selection may be restricted to a list of pre-approved routes.
